Arrows Hoodwinked In Nottingham
Nottingham Hoods 80-77 Linbraze Arrows
The Linbraze Arrows were edged out by Nottingham Hoods by 80–77 which ends their run of narrow victories. The Arrows played well for the most part to lead after 3 quarters narrowly at 51-56 but this time were edged out at the death. Dennis Scott led all scorers with 28 points.
It was another typically tight encounter with the teams locked together at 18–18 at the end of the first quarter. In fact, the Arrows showing fine skill were able to work themselves a 40–34 interval lead despite a late Hoods 3 pointer giving them momentum.
The third quarter was a closely contested affair but in Dennis Scott and Joseph Baugh the Arrows appeared to hold firm at 56–51. Sadly for the Arrows, they fell off the pace defensively succumbing time and again to the Hoods fast break giving up 29 points in the quarter.
This time there was to be no escape as the Arrows suffered an 80–77 defeat. The Arrows overall record is now 5–3.
Scorers; Dennis Scott 28, Andreas Lycoudis 12, Luke Parker 11, Joseph Baugh 10, James Kelly 10
After the loss, Arrows captain James Kelly commented:
We're obviously disappointed with the outcome of the game. I think we played well enough to win but with the game on the line, the Hoods made the big plays and unfortunately we couldn't respond. We have to put it behind us quickly and get ready for the Newcastle game on Saturday.
This Saturday the Arrows face Team Newcastle Knights at Queens Park Chesterfield at 6.30pm. Tickets are available on the door priced at £4 for adults, £2 for children and just £1 for Arrows members.
