County Call Ups For Arrows Quartet
For four Junior Arrows stars the season is not yet over as they have been called up to represent county squads over the summer.
The youngest of the quartet is 12 year old point guard Isaac Askwith, who will represent the South Yorkshire U13 squad. Askwith comes off the back of another impressive campaign with the Arrows U14 team, a team he has been part of for the last three seasons.
In the U15 age group, both Logan Shepherd and Sam Sabin have been selected for the Derbyshire squad. Shepherd, 14, lead the Arrows U14 in scoring this season as well as picking up the MVP award at the End of Season Awards Night. It will be a valuable experience for the Arrows forward who has another year of eligibility with the Derbyshire U15 team next summer. Sabin makes the Derbyshire cut after a season of vast improvement while playing for Coach Oakey's Arrows U16 team this last term. The 6'4 centre will no doubt bring rebounding and shot blocking to a Derbyshire team that will meet Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire in the East Midlands tournament on 10th June.
At the older end of the regional structure, the Arrows U16 back court duo of Alex Lycoudis and Sam Taylor earned their places in the Derbyshire U17 squad. Lycoudis, who was an East Midlands representative last summer, has shown showed his worth in the North East Conference over the season with his consistent outside shooting threat. Arrows U16 MVP Sam Taylor made the selection for the Derbyshire squad but later withdrew due to a broken collarbone.
The Arrows would like to wish these players the best of luck in their respective tournaments.
